Oak

Oak

22 Oak, Quercus robur

Guiding principle:
DESPONDENCY or DESPAIR - Endurance

About this herb:
Scientific name: Quercus robur
Description: Oak is a large deciduous tree 80-120 feet tall, with lobed and nearly sessile (very short-stalked) leaves 2–5 inches long. It was honored by our forefathers as sacred. Flowering takes place in mid spring. The red female blossoms and the male catkins are found on the same tree. It blossoms from the end of April to the beginning of May. Their fruit, called acorns, ripen by autumn of the same year. The acorns are 1 inch long, pedunculate with one to four acorns on each peduncle.

The aims of this flower essence:
One feels to be a depressed and exhausted fighter who, nevertheless, continues in a brave way and never gives up.

Dr. Bach wrote:
For those who are struggling and fighting strongly to get well, or in connection with the affairs of their daily life. They will go on trying one thing after another, though their case may seem hopeless. They will fight on. They are discontented with themselves if illness interferes with their duties or helping others. They are brave people, fighting against great difficulties, without loss of hope or effort.     (The 12 Healers and other remedies, 1936)
